I purposely used the image of one of my perfectly baked pumpkin choc chip muffins as today's blog entry image, because, well, it's not depressing.
Which leads me to summing up the (almost) fortnight into the new year, kinda depressing. My awful hormones aside, 2023 is zipping along just like 2022, Putin claims a cease-fire then proceeds (as expected) to continue bombing. War aside, regular people dropping likes flies, most shockingly Lisa Marie Presley dying of cardiac arrest yesterday. The GOP are still acting like crazed toddlers on crack and doing nutty things like giving in to the far right minority to get McCarthy elected speaker (chaos will be the GOP house word of 2023 I suspect), wanting to get rid of the IRS (and how many American jobs would that be?) and going back to allowing smoking in congress GOP offices (something that began being curbed all the way back in the late 1880's for the obvious reasons). And climate change serving up more of what scientists have been warning for years, but even worse; the end of 2022 going into 2023 snow storm in the midwest/back east that killed a bunch of people, and the massive atmospheric storms that are continuing to ravish the west, especially California.
Right now, while the world is a bit of a shit-show, we roll through Friday the 13th, we are hopefully ready for the next rainstorm coming tomorrow. We've been lucky so far, we haven't had as much rain as the burn areas or the mountain areas, but still enough to warrant getting sand bags after the first storm to prep for last week's second storm, and some gutter caulking today for tomorrow's storm. We're privileged and recognize that for now, we getting by a-ok.
My hormones are a different story and after yesterday's labs (results next week) I fully expect to jump straight up to the .1 femring. Enough of this low estrogen shit, my body just can't take it anymore. I would list all the issues, but I just can't be bothered...let's just say I'm living a very limited life right now because we never know what gremlins are going to pop up and render me useless.
On a hopeful note (although totally not realistic) the lotto is like a billion dollars right now...ticket please!
Below: how far back the water seeped from the 1st storm. We now have sand bags all along the front of the square stepping stones.
